A gentle approach to navigating New Year pressures
Whether it’s winter or summer for you, this is a time when we all get pressured to “start doing things!”.
New year: new me, a fresh start, better habits, resolutions… And all that jazz.
Now, what about we put aside all those unsolicited advice and start listening to ourselves instead?
Take a breathe and ask yourself:
At what pace do I want to go now?
How would I feel going at that pace?
What would help me go at that pace?
What could I let go of to help me go at that pace?
If this is a time you feel full of energy and want to go fast, do it and have fun with it! You’ll need some time to rest and recharge at some point. How can you remind yourself to take it?
If you want to go slow and take your time to get going, is there an image, a metaphor, or a sentence you can create and use as a reminder?
Whatever your energy level, here are some resources to help you free yourself from the pressure of the beginning of the year.
