[0:29] Hi there. It’s been a little while, huh? So how are things going in your word? Over here, things are, well, you know, following the tides on the emotional level, but I also feel like my energy is slowly regenerating and I am happy about that. And I am proud, too, because I’ve been taking good care of myself and have found ways to stay grounded and resourced throughout my healing journey. So I have been through a lot in this past year or so, and April and May felt like the Tower in tarot, total disruption, and like the proverbial final straw too. Still, during these weeks of chaos and sorrow, I realized that I didn’t lose my ability to notice things that made my heart smile, like, you know, a purple wildflower in a gravel flower bed, or, a huge full moon in the sky, birds chirping right before sunrise, on the side of the road.
[1:49] So I started keeping a list. So every time I noticed something that made me smile, I added to that day’s quote-unquote Tiny Joys section in my digital journal. And a little while later, I started feeling the urge to journal or to write or just, you know, put words and sentences out of my head. But I felt stuck. I was staring at that blank page and I couldn’t come up with anything. But still, I heard thoughts rumble in my mind. So I looked for books with prompts to get unstuck and found, thanks to an unknown Redditor, The Book of Alchemy by Suleika Jaouad. And almost every day, I, you know, read an essay and a prompt and write in response to them by hand in a physical notebook. And sometimes it feels great, sometimes a little too intense, sometimes just neutral, but still I feel it’s, you know, it is helping. And then at some point, my body let me know that it wanted to move.
[3:09] Possibly in a mindful, meaningful way. So I got back on my mat and started doing yoga sequences that don’t involve shoulders, hands, or wrists, since I still can’t bear weight on my left shoulder or, you know, move it through its full range of motion. And I truly hated how bad I felt like I was at yoga at first.
[3:41] You know and even on the second and third day but I kept showing up and I can see some progress now, and then later on my whole quote-unquote body mind started telling me well friend we need a project to focus on, and that was a sign that my energy was coming back and wanted to be nurtured, And I had the chance to share how I felt with Amelia Hruby and my Close Best Friend group. And from that exchange, I got an idea for that project I was craving. And I started working on it right away. It felt exciting and inspiring. And, you know, at times it’s feeling scary too. But I am allowing myself to be playful with it. And it’s lighting me up.
[4:37] So when I thought about it, I realized that all those practices are indeed my way of supporting myself through healing, but they are also my way of coming back to my creative self and of coming back to you too. And in some ways, they are shaping the project that I’m working on too. And I will tell you more about the project soon and by soon I mean next week and I’m saying it out loud to hold myself accountable. Not today though because returning to you and being visible is feeling already a lot for my nervous system right now. So enough about me, why don’t we talk about you. So what is something that you did this past month that made you feel like, I don’t know, grounded, inspired, or energized, or creative?
[5:41] Let me know if you’d like. I would truly love to hear from you. And you can email me or you can leave me a voice message on SpeakPipe. You’ll find all, you know, all the links in the show notes. And, you know, I’m really looking forward to hearing from you. Well, talk soon.
