🌻 Why Do We Forget What Fuels Us? (And How to Remember)

In this episode, I’m reflecting on the paradox of knowing exactly what we need to recharge, yet forgetting to do it when life gets busy. We’re tired of running on empty, so why does that keep happening? And how can we break the loop?

[0:29] Hey there, how’s your week going? So for me it’s Friday morning, I am sitting on my balcony, I’m looking at the green leaves of the trees up the hill, and I’m listening to a symphony of birds talking to each other. You know, I’m trying to make this time and this spot a quote-unquote ritual to support my audio letter writing practice, and we will see if it sticks. So now that I’m taking a breath and a break.

[1:03] I’m realizing that I had a quite busy week, and I am pretty tired, and I want to plan some activities to restore my energy during the weekend.

[1:16] For sure, I will include some rest, but I also need to plan something inspiring, interesting, somehow stimulating or thought-provoking to nurture my creativity. And it sounds like I’ve got it all figured out, right? If I have a busy week, I will have some regenerative activities and I will feel refreshed and ready to move forward. But it’s not that easy because even though I know what works for me, I just tend to forget to do it. And I guess that’s because those, you know, joyful rejuvenating activities fall under the bigger umbrella of unproductive activities. And being raised in a system that rewards you only when you are productive makes it very easy to set aside all the much-needed fun stuff. And I guess that’s the same reason why for the past three years, at least, I entered the fall feeling like, wait, I used to love September’s New Beginnings vibe. So why am I feeling numb and uninspired now? And how will I dive back into my work if my creative battery is already drained?

[2:46] I have a feeling that sounds familiar to you, too. I mean, globally, the past two to three years have been incredibly heavy, and I believe you’re not completely immune to putting aside playful, regenerative activities in favor of pushing through and being quote-unquote productive, even though you might be doing it unconsciously. Well, you know what? I am tired of falling into that same trap again and again. And I don’t want to get to this fall feeling like I lost my drive and imagination and thinking, how did we get here again? And I’m pretty sure you don’t want that too. So I’m creating something for us both. Something fun inspiring playful deep and powerful too yet not overwhelming or too demanding so let me introduce you to the joyful impact summer camp, it’s a four-week program for socially conscious business owners and creatives like us who want to enter the fall energized and with their creative well bubbling with inspiration, but right now don’t know how to stop feeling exhausted and exploiting their capacity.

[4:11] The camp will help you craft your own guides to spot what fuels you, to tend what keeps you stuck in unhelpful patterns, and to map your path forward so you know exactly how to resource yourself and how to restore your creativity, especially during those tricky, challenging times or when you feel, you know, overwhelmed, much like the late summer fatigue, right?

[4:39] It will happen in August, mostly asynchronously, plus two live calls, one at the beginning and one at the end, so we can get to know each other, set intentions, and celebrate progress. I am working on the details, and of course, I will share them soon. In the meantime, would you be open to sharing how it sounds to you? You know, I’m creating this to support you the best way I can, and I’d really love to hear how the idea of the camp lands with you. And I also want to invite you to sit, walk, or dance with this question. How do you want to feel when September comes and it’s time to dive back into your creative, impactful work? So feel free to share what comes to mind you can email me or send me a voice message on speakpipe and of course you’ll find all the links in the show notes, i am really looking forward to hearing from you and for everything else we will talk soon.
