Looking at the future while enjoying the present

Hey there!
How are you?
I’ve just ditched all the ideas I had for this article and decided to go with the flow. Let’s see how it goes!
This morning, during my yoga practice, something the teacher said hit me. I was standing in the Warrior 2 pose when she said,
“One foot in the future, one foot in the past, and your heart is resting in the present moment, the space where true happiness exists.”
It resonated with me deeply and stuck in my mind.
Later, that sentence still looping in my head, I thought about the workshop I’ll host today and asked myself, “So if the envisioning part is the future and the review exercises are the past, what’s the present?”
Then I got it. It’s the celebration part!
When you look at your past steps, notice where they brought you, and take time to celebrate them in the now before moving on, you are being present and allowing yourself to feel emotionally and physically that happiness my yoga teacher mentioned.
And it occurred to me that I had, in fact, scheduled the workshop to be as close as possible to the Harvest Moon in the northern hemisphere —a time to dedicate to honoring and appreciating your literal and metaphorical harvest. Then I forgot because I went on Summer break, did not regenerate my energies, and came back in a bad mood (see last week’s article for a few more details).
See, it’s so easy to fall into the trap of busyness, believe we have to do and go as fast as possible, and mess up your mood and energy. But where are we running to? The future, as exciting as it may be, will, at some point, be our present, so why the heck don’t we take time to enjoy it?!
So, today, I’ll enjoy and celebrate my present by hosting the workshop and facilitating some celebrations. You can register on my website if you want to join.
If you’re not joining, I invite you to celebrate anyway! I’m sure you have plenty of reasons to. And even just one reason is enough.
With care,
Giada

I’m eager to support you!

Thnak you, Kay! Can’t wait to meet you!
I hadn’t made that connection before, that celebrating always pulls me into the present. Thanks for connecting those dots!
Same! It sounds so clear now that we’ve made it. Also, we can look at it the other way round: when we are present to savor our food or have a moment with someone we love, we could say that’s a celebration of that moment.
Love it!
